How It Works
Squalane and Squalene are both lipids that occur naturally in plants and animals. Squalane is the hydrogenated version of Squalene. Once hydrogenated, Squalane is far more stable than Squalene. All our Squalane is derived from olives only. Olive Squalane comes from the very first cold pressing of olives, derived without any chemical extraction or intervention. Olives hold small quantities of Squalane, so only trace amounts are obtained at a time; this however, greatly contributes to its purity and value. Squalane occurs naturally as a component in human sebum (oil produced by glands in the skin) and serves to lubricate and shield the surface. When we are young, its levels are at its highest, but as we get older, our levels diminish rapidly. Because of its tiny molecular structure and affinity with natural sebum; Squalane is extremely effective and works at lightning-fast pace, it can permeate the skin at an astounding rate of 2mm per second. Being so easily absorbed it goes to work immediately with its revitalizing action. Thanks to its stability and extended shelf life it is a marvelous conditioner, delivering incredible relief to dry and irritated skin. With a molecular structure close to Vitamin A, it exhibits stimulated cell growth and regenerative properties, making it an excellent addition for managing skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema. Squalane is also an antioxidant preventing UV damage and inhibiting oxidization. It can deactivate free radicals produced by UV exposure. With all these benefits from a natural resource, it’s little wonder that this safe and powerful ingredient has been used in abundance around the world and is included in many other cosmetic blends and mixes. From Mother Nature’s hand straight to your skin, now you can now have it in its purest form.
